Jack Mecholsky, Ph.D., was selected for the 2014 William R. Jones Outstanding Mentor Award from the Florida Education Fund (FEF). He received the award at a special ceremony during the Annual McKnight Doctoral Fellows Conference in Tampa, Florida, on November 9, 2014.
The McKnight Doctoral Fellowship program is designed to address the underrepresentation of African American and Hispanic faculty at colleges and universities in the state of Florida by increasing the pool of citizens with Ph.D. degrees qualified to teach at the college and university levels. As an honoree, he will receive a plaque and a monetary award for his outstanding contribution to the McKnight Doctoral Fellowship Program. The nomination was made by Professor Mecholsky’s newest Ph.D student, Paul Robinson. Dr. Robinson was inducted as a new McKnight Ph.D graduate at the ceremony.
