Dr. Sodano’s paper has demonstrated the growth of vertically aligned arrays of barium titanate Nanowires for the first time and shown that the ferroelectric nanowires can act as highly accurate dynamics stress sensors or specifically accelerometers.  The results also show that the barium titanate nanowires can provide more than an order of magnitude performance improvement over widely studied ZnO nanowires.
