Connect to Department Network Drive

The instructions and screen captures below will help you connect to the MSE department drive on a Windows or macOS computer system. 

Note:  If you are attempting to connect to the department drive from an off-campus location, you must first connect to the Gatorlink VPN.

Windows Instructions

macOS Instructions

On a Windows system:

  1. Click the Windows icon or press the Windows key on your keyboard.
  2. Type, “this pc”, and click Map network drive.
  3. You may choose your preferred drive letter.  Here we are using S.  Enter “\\ad.ufl.edu\mse\department” into the Folder text box, check Reconnect at sign-in, check Connect using different credentials and click Finish.You will be prompted for the credentials to use.  Enter your username as, “UFAD\yourgatorlink”, enter your Gatorlink password, check Remember my credentials, and click Ok.
  4. The department folder will open and will be available on your system.

On a macOS system:

  1. Click Finder from the dock.
  2. Click Go and choose Connect to Server
  3. Enter, “smb://ad.ufl.edu/mse/department”, into the text box and click Connect.
  4. Click Connect.
  5. Select Registered User, enter your username as, “UFAD\yourgatorlink”, enter your Gatorlink password, check Remember this password in my keychain, and click Connect.
  6. The department folder will open.
  7. To make this location available each time you log in, click Finder and choose Preferences.
  8. Check the Connected servers option and close the window.
  9. Open System Preferences.
  10. Select Users & Groups.
  11. Select your user account and click Login Items.
  12. Drag and drop the department icon from your desktop into this window.
  13. Close the window.  The connected server will reconnect each time you log in.
