Biography

Sara Jensen is a senior manager of the Radiation and Electromagnetics Group at Sandia National Laboratories, where she leads research on the effects of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation on electronics and materials.

Over 15 years at Sandia, she has held technical and leadership roles, including leading the Experimental Dynamics and Mechanics organization, which characterizes how systems and components respond to vibration and shock. She has also served as programmatic lead for several NNSA-funded portfolios encompassing R&D, testing, and diagnostics for radiation, electrical, thermal, and mechanical environments. Earlier in her Sandia career, Sara led projects at the MESA microelectronics fabrication facility.

Before joining Sandia, she was a process development engineer at Hewlett-Packard, developing manufacturing processes for diverse product technologies. Sara holds a B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from Lehigh University and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees, also in Materials Science and Engineering, from the University of Florida, where she was an NSF Fellow.
