Biography

Jason Griggs conducted his BS, MS, and PhD studies in Materials Science & Engineering at the University of Florida. His dissertation research was co-mentored by Dr. Jack Mecholsky and Dr. Ken Anusavice.

He joined the faculty at Baylor College of Dentistry (Texas A&M) in 1998 as an Assistant Professor.

During his appointment at Baylor, Dr. Griggs progressed to the rank of Professor and served as Graduate Program Director and Vice-Chair of the Department of Biomaterials Science. Dr. Griggs moved to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2007 to serve as Chair of the Department of Biomedical Materials Science. He began serving as Associate Dean for Research in the School of Dentistry in 2008.

He is a Fellow and former President of the Academy of Dental Materials. He has served as Principal Investigator of five NIH R01 grants and other grants totaling over $9M. He currently serves as Convener of the ISO workgroup on dental ceramics. He has authored over 130 peer-reviewed articles, seven book chapters, and two patents. His main research interests lie in fracture testing and failure analysis of materials for prostheses and implants.
