Biography
Carol A. Hill, MBA, serves as Director of Development for the University of Florida’s Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering, where she leads strategic philanthropic initiatives supporting the Departments of Materials Science and Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. In this role, she partners with academic leadership, faculty, alumni, External Advisory Councils for each department, corporations, and philanthropic partners to advance departmental and college priorities. She manages high-impact relationships and identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards major gift opportunities that strengthen academic excellence, student success, faculty innovation, and research.
Carol brings more than a decade of experience spanning higher education advancement, student services, nonprofit philanthropy, and strategic development. Prior to joining the University of Florida, she served as Director of Student Services and Development for Florida A&M University’s College of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities, where her responsibilities integrated student success, career readiness, alumni and employer engagement, and philanthropic development. In that role, she worked collaboratively with academic leaders and external partners to expand opportunities for students, strengthen institutional relationships, and advance strategic priorities across the college.
Her experience in engineering advancement also includes serving as Director of Development for the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, where she cultivated philanthropic partnerships in support of engineering education, research, faculty, and students. She also served as Regional Director of Development at Washington and Lee University. Earlier in her career, Hill held roles in resource development with United Way of the Big Bend and in strategic business consulting with the Small Business Development Center. Collectively, these experiences have provided her with a strong foundation in relationship management, strategic planning, organizational growth, and mission-driven philanthropy.
Carol earned both her Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Business Administration from Florida A&M University. Her professional philosophy centers on building authentic relationships and connecting the interests and passions of donors and partners with institutional priorities that create meaningful and lasting impact.
As the development partner for the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Carol is committed to working alongside departmental leadership and the External Advisory Council to strengthen industry and alumni engagement, expand philanthropic investment, and help position the department for continued excellence in education, innovation, and student achievement.
