Materials Science and Engineering Professor Wolfgang Sigmund, Ph.D., has been elected into the European Union Academy of Sciences.
Sigmund earned his Ph.D. from Johannes Gutenberg University. He has been a professor at the University of Florida since 1999.
His research focuses on semiconductor oxides for energy harvesting and storage, photocatalysis and photolysis, electrodes for secondary batteries, barrier coatings, nanostructures in surface science, and biomedical applications of nanoparticles.
Members of the EU Academy of Sciences include leading scientists and scholars in engineering and physics, chemistry, medicine, and social sciences, law and economics.
