Andrew Sheaffer

Andrew Sheaffer is a Principal Nuclear Engineer at Westinghouse Electric Company. He has been with Westinghouse for 12 years and currently works in nuclear criticality safety. He has previously held positions in nuclear core design, spent fuel pool fuel storage analysis, and engineering project management. Additionally, Andrew serves in recruiting, training, and intern coordination capacities for the nuclear fuel division and often serves in collegiate engagement roles and industry councils. Prior to Westinghouse, Andrew attended Penn State University majoring in mechanical and nuclear engineering.

 

Abstract

Andrew will be administering a presentation introducing listeners to basic nuclear core design strategies and principles, safety analysis for core reloads, energy plans and strategy, and the expectations of customers/vendors/regulators. Additionally, he will lead a brief discussion about young engineer training, career development, continuing education, industry outlook, and a general, open forum.
