Follow these simple steps to submit your application:

  1. Read the graduate admission requirements and instructions on the UF Office of Admissions website.
  2. Read our program-specific graduate admission requirements.
  3. Create an account and submit your admission application, resume or CV, personal statement, recommendation letters, and application fee online through the UF Application portal.

EDGE
If you are applying to our EDGE Master’s in Materials Science & Engineering program, please select EDGE Distance Education as the location of your intended program when submitting your application. If you are applying to our on-campus programs, please select Main Campus – Gainesville as the location of your intended program.

Program Specialization
Once you’ve selected your intended program of study, you’ll see a section for additional information that requests for a program specialization and a department contact name. Nothing needs to be entered in this section, please disregard and continue with submitting your application.

GRE
The GRE is no longer required for admission to our department. In fact, we strongly discourage applicants from submitting GRE scores, as scores that fall below university minimums will negatively impact your application.

English Proficiency Scores
Non-US applicants must submit IELTS, Internet-Based TOEFL, or Paper-Based TOEFL scores. (TOEFL ITP and Duolingo scores are not acceptable.)

Exemption Policy can be found at: Grad International – University of Florida

Exemptions for “Applicants hold an earned equivalent of associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s or PhD degree from a non-US institution in which English is the only official language of instruction” are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and are not guaranteed.

These documents are used for the initial review process; failure to provide these documents will delay the review process.

All Official test scores, transcripts, and academic credentials are to be sent directly to the UF Office of Admissions. Don’t send these official documents directly to the department as they will no longer be considered official. See information below on how to submit official documents.

All official transcripts and international documents should be sent directly to the UF Office of Admissions. This means the sealed transcript must be sent directly from the issuing institution to the Office of Admissions. It can be mailed directly or they will accept transcripts sent electronically by Parchment, National Clearinghouse or Escript. Please be aware that any transcripts that are copied, scanned, opened by the student in any way, or emailed will not be deemed official.

You’ll want to send or forward your official transcripts in their original sealed envelope directly to the University of Florida’s Office of Admissions at:
Office of Admissions
PO BOX 114000
Gainesville, FL 32611-4000

If you are ordering your transcripts by PDF, please be aware that UF only accepts electronic transcripts through FASTER, Parchment, National Student Clearing House, ScribbleSoft, e-Scrip Safe, Credential Solutions, SCOIR or Transcripts Plus. The email address for receipt of these transcripts (if requested) is TE@admissions.ufl.edu.

Letters of recommendation must be submitted electronically through the admissions application. Do not skip the letters of recommendation section.

You cannot add or delete recommendations once your application has been submitted.
At the time of application, please provide your recommender’s contact information.
Once your application is submitted, your recommender will be sent an email directly from the application system with instructions on how to submit their recommendation electronically.
