James Baciak, Ph.D., professor in Materials Science & Engineering/Nuclear Engineering, is among the researchers recognized with the American Concrete Institute’s Wason Medal for Materials Research.
The award recognizes research into cement-based composites designed to improve radiation shielding in nuclear facilities while maintaining structural performance. Baciak collaborated with faculty from the Engineering School of Sustainable Infrastructure & Environment and Civil and Coastal Engineering on the research.
